# Installation & Activation

How to install and activate the Theme - Manager and check whether your theme is supported.

The Theme - Manager is an extension for Shopware 6.7. It brings together the settings for the layout, products and sales promotion of your storefront in one place in the administration. You install it like any other Shopware extension – afterwards you will find it in the menu under **Content › Theme - Settings**.

You carry out the installation in the administration under **Extensions › My extensions**.

{% hint style="success" %}
After activation you do not need to set anything up or compile anything by hand: Shopware rebuilds the storefront automatically on activation. All settings start with default values.
{% endhint %}

## Requirements

<table><thead><tr><th width="287">Requirement</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Shopware 6.7</td><td>The Theme - Manager runs with every version of Shopware 6.7.</td></tr><tr><td>Sales channel of the type Storefront</td><td>The Theme - Manager styles your storefront. Sales channels without a storefront, such as a headless channel, do not show its features.</td></tr><tr><td>Supported theme</td><td>The default Shopware theme or a compatible theme by RH-Webdesign – see <strong>Which themes the Theme - Manager applies to</strong> below.</td></tr><tr><td>Internet connection of the server</td><td>The administration loads the themes by RH-Webdesign under <strong>Manage Themes</strong> and the changelog from the Shopware Store. For this, your server must be able to reach the Shopware Store. All other settings also work without it.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Installing and activating

1. In the administration, open **Extensions › My extensions**.
2. Make sure the Theme - Manager appears in the list:
   * **Bought in the Shopware Store:** Open the **Shopware Account** tab and log in with your Shopware Account. Your purchased extensions then appear in the list.
   * **Received as a ZIP file:** Click **Upload extension** (1) and select the ZIP file.
3. In the **Theme - Manager – Design & Conversion for your Storefront** row, click **Install**. Shopware installs the extension, activates it straight away and reloads the page.
4. Check the switch (2) on the left of the row: if it is switched on, the Theme - Manager is active.

<table><thead><tr><th width="287">Function</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Upload extension (1)</td><td>Uploads an extension as a ZIP file. You only need this if you do not obtain the Theme - Manager through your Shopware Account.</td></tr><tr><td>Switch (2)</td><td>Shows whether the extension is active and switches it on or off. When switched off, the Theme - Manager stays installed but no longer has any effect in your shop.</td></tr><tr><td>“…” menu (3)</td><td>Further actions for the extension, for example <strong>Uninstall</strong>.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
The Theme - Manager has no “Configure” page under “My extensions”. You reach all settings through the menu **Content › Theme - Settings**.
{% endhint %}

## The new menu item

After activation, the menu item **Theme - Settings** appears under **Content** with three sub-items.

<figure><img src="https://3517456628-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmlPb6ICG6kHEJhGjJ5wl%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-62537570187eb8bbc638f53e45404258a320d1d1%2Finstallation-menue.webp?alt=media" alt="Theme - Settings menu item under Content" width="300"><figcaption><p>The Theme - Manager in the menu of the administration.</p></figcaption></figure>

<table><thead><tr><th width="287">Function</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Content (1)</td><td>The Shopware menu area under which the Theme - Manager sits.</td></tr><tr><td>Theme - Settings (2)</td><td>Opens the dashboard of the Theme - Manager. The three sub-items sit below it.</td></tr><tr><td>Dashboard (3)</td><td>Also the dashboard: this is where you manage your themes and open all settings.</td></tr><tr><td>Changelog (4)</td><td>Shows what has changed in the individual versions of the Theme - Manager.</td></tr><tr><td>Support (5)</td><td>This is where you reach the developer by support ticket or email.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
When you open the Theme - Settings, Shopware collapses its main menu into a narrow icon bar to leave more room for the settings. A click on the Shopware logo at the top left (**Expand menu**) expands it again.
{% endhint %}

## Which themes the Theme - Manager applies to

The Theme - Manager only changes your storefront in sales channels that have a supported theme assigned:

* the default Shopware theme – in the administration it is called **Shopware default theme**,
* selected themes by RH-Webdesign that are built on the Theme - Manager,
* duplicates of these themes, which you create in Shopware under **Content › Themes**.

All other themes are not supported – even if they are built on the default Shopware theme. The Theme - Manager itself shows you whether a theme is compatible (see below).

If a sales channel uses an unsupported theme, the Theme - Manager keeps out of the way there completely so that it does not interfere with the other vendor's theme: its features do not appear in the shop, its styling and scripts are not loaded and its own shop pages cannot be reached. You can still edit the settings – they take effect as soon as the sales channel uses a supported theme.

### How to check your theme

1. Open **Content › Theme - Settings**. The dashboard starts with **Manage Themes**.
2. Under **Assigned themes**, look at the card of your sales channel: the badge (2) shows whether the theme is supported.
3. Move the mouse over the coloured dot (1) next to **Manage Themes**. It summarises the state of all sales channels.

<table><thead><tr><th width="287">Function</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Status dot (1)</td><td><strong>Green:</strong> All assigned themes are compatible.<br><strong>Yellow:</strong> Only some of the assigned themes are compatible.<br><strong>Red:</strong> None of the assigned themes is compatible, no sales channel has a theme assigned, or the Shopware extension “Shopware Store” is not installed.<br>When you move the mouse over it, a tooltip explains the state.</td></tr><tr><td>Compatible / Not compatible (2)</td><td>Shows for each sales channel whether its theme is supported by the Theme - Manager. Duplicates additionally get the badge <strong>Duplicate</strong> and are judged by the theme they originate from.</td></tr></tbody></table>

The page **Themes & Sales Channels** explains how to assign a different theme to a sales channel.

## Theme - Manager and themes by RH-Webdesign

The themes by RH-Webdesign are built on the Theme - Manager but are independent extensions. The order therefore does not matter: you can also install and activate a theme before the Theme - Manager and add the Theme - Manager later.

As long as the Theme - Manager is missing or deactivated, a theme by RH-Webdesign shows the notice **Theme - Manager Extension Required** under **Content › Themes** instead of its settings. The settings below it are locked.

<figure><img src="https://3517456628-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmlPb6ICG6kHEJhGjJ5wl%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f7b978a05eed9aef40d7f72ec909d3c2a80243b0%2Finstallation-theme-ohne-theme-manager.webp?alt=media" alt="Theme by RH-Webdesign under Content Themes with the notice Theme - Manager Extension Required"><figcaption><p>A theme by RH-Webdesign without an active Theme - Manager – here the example theme “Theme - Example”: the notice at the top, the locked settings below.</p></figcaption></figure>

<table><thead><tr><th width="287">Function</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Documentation (1)</td><td>Opens the documentation of the Theme - Manager in a new tab.</td></tr><tr><td>Activate Theme - Manager (2)</td><td>Activates the installed Theme - Manager. If it has only been uploaded, the button is called <strong>Install Theme - Manager</strong> and installs and activates it in one step. If it is not in your shop at all, the button reads <strong>View in Shopware Store</strong>. Afterwards the administration reloads.</td></tr></tbody></table>

You can only assign a theme by RH-Webdesign to a sales channel once the Theme - Manager is active. If you select it beforehand, for example under **Sales Channels** in the **Theme** tab, the same notice appears as a window and the theme is not assigned.

<figure><img src="https://3517456628-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FmlPb6ICG6kHEJhGjJ5wl%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4c22d9b60f2b4bb495b401c8b1b29762902ac0f1%2Finstallation-theme-zuweisen-ohne-theme-manager.webp?alt=media" alt="Notice window when assigning a theme without the Theme - Manager" width="500"><figcaption><p>The window when assigning: <strong>Documentation</strong> (1) and <strong>Activate Theme - Manager</strong> (2) work as described above.</p></figcaption></figure>

As soon as you activate the Theme - Manager, Shopware automatically recompiles all assigned themes – with their full design. Conversely, you can also deactivate or uninstall the Theme - Manager while a theme by RH-Webdesign is assigned: the theme stays assigned and your shop stays online. What changes in that case is explained under **Deactivating or uninstalling the Theme - Manager** on the page **Themes & Sales Channels**.

{% endcontent-ref %}

## Uninstalling

Through the “…” menu (3) and **Uninstall**, you remove the Theme - Manager from your shop. Shopware uses the switch **Remove all app data permanently** to ask what should happen to your data:

* **Switched off** (default): All settings and content of the Theme - Manager stay saved. If you install it again later, everything is as before.
* **Switched on:** The Theme - Manager removes everything it created – the settings of all cards, its content such as Product Bundles, Product Badges, Product Attachments, Surcharges, Product Configurators, Cross-Selling Popups, SCSS and JavaScript containers, Twig templates, wish lists, back-in-stock subscriptions and the checkout statistics, as well as the email templates for “Back in Stock”, the automatically created rules and price rows of the Free Shipping Notification, the custom fields of the registration and the downloaded Google Fonts.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Removing the data cannot be undone. Orders, customers, products, images and the Shopware wishlist are not touched.
{% endhint %}
